For the last 20 years, we have been doing small group classes and tutoring for Chief and Deputy Chief candidates. The Bernstein students have consistently had the highest scores in the state.
For the December 2015 exam, we will have 9 in-class sessions. These sessions will cover all the areas my staff and I feel have a high probability of appearing on your exam. The lead instructor will be Chief Robert Dowd. When Chief Dowd took his Chiefs exam, he had the highest score in the state! He and I have devised the course content. Those who attend, will see it will be dead on for your exam.
During the course, we will review in detail the following areas:
- Criminal Law
- Police Management
- Police Administration
- Personnel Problem Solving
- Police Personnel Management (Leadership/Supervision)
- Community Policing
- Court Decisions and Case Law
Those who attend will receive relevant study materials for all of these areas. Students will also be practiced extensively. You should know that the New Jersey Chief and Deputy Chief's exams are a straight oral assessment. In addition to the in-class sessions, there will be class assignments. All assignments will focus candidates on areas that have a high probability of being tested.
The fee for the course is $2,450. The classes will be held in mostly in Central Jersey. The times will be 6:00pm to 10:00pm for most of the classes. Below is the course schedule:
